Standardised Colors<\/h2>\n

PMS colors are standardised colors, meaning that a specific colour is the same everywhere in the world. For example, PMS 021 is the orange colour you probably recognise from ING<\/a> and Nationale Nederlanden. These brands use PMS colors because they want to ensure that their brand colour is consistent across all materials.<\/p>\n

Thanks to this color consistency, PMS colors are often used for corporate stationery printing. The colors will always be the same, but they may appear slightly different on various materials. This is due to the type of paper used. For instance, uncoated paper absorbs more ink than coated paper, which can cause the color to look different, even though the exact same ink has been used.<\/p>\n

For this reason, the coding system also includes a letter code to specify the type of material. Tips for PMS colors<\/h2>\n

Since PMS colors require the ink to be specially mixed and the printing press needs to be cleaned both before and after, this option can sometimes be more expensive than printing with CMYK.<\/p>\n

To choose a color, you can use a PMS color fan deck. There are two different decks \u2014 one for uncoated paper and one for coated paper. It\u2019s best not to choose your colour based on your computer screen. Screens display colors as RGB (Red, Green, and Blue), which means the colors you see on your monitor will look different from how they appear on paper<\/p>\n
