Bleed settings

Are you having a book printed and do you need to submit your files in print-ready format? Setting the bleed for images is one of the requirements that a print-ready file must meet. We ask this to ensure that no unwanted borders appear at the edge of the image.

Tutorial – video

In this video, we explain how to set the bleed for an image in Adobe InDesign.

What is bleed?

Bleed means extending the image in the file right to the edge of the print file. This ensures there are no unwanted white edges on the book when it is trimmed by the printer. This works in exactly the same way for solid colour areas, for example.

For the cover, we can provide a layout template so that you know exactly how to set up the document. For the interior, you can assume a bleed of 3 mm.
