Meet Joey

Joey is the dedicated graphic designer at New Energy Printing, specializing in custom book design and typography. On a daily basis, he creates striking book covers, interior page layouts, and press-ready files for authors, publishing houses, and corporate clients.

Through years of industry experience, Joey knows exactly how to make a book visually stunning while ensuring it is technically flawless for production. From the very first design concept, he accounts for critical print specifications, including binding methods, paper stock, spine width, and premium print finishes such as foil stamping, spot UV coating, or embossing.

This unique combination of creative vision and technical expertise ensures that your book not only looks exceptional, but can also be manufactured without any production issues.

How can Joey help you?

You decide how much support you require for your publishing project. Perhaps you only have a Word document containing raw text, or perhaps you already possess a preliminary layout that requires prepress optimization.

Joey can assist you with:

  • Custom Book Cover Design: Professional layout design for front, back, and spine.
  • Specialized Publication Design: Graphic design for catalogs, magazines, corporate journals, and photo books.
  • Endpaper Design: Custom visual layouts for hardcover endpapers.
  • Prepress & DTP Support: Technical prepress checks and converting files into certified print-ready standards.
  • Layout Adjustments & Revisions: Refining existing design files and pre-existing graphics.

Whether you are starting from scratch or simply need to apply the final finishing touches to your manuscript, Joey is ready to collaborate with you.

Why choose a graphic designer?

Formatting and typesetting a book is a specialized craft. It is not merely about aesthetic appeal; it involves precise technical details that directly impact the quality of the final printed product.

Because Joey works with book production every single day, he understands exact print requirements. This includes calculating correct margins, reading hierarchy, page numbering, spine width formulas, and high-resolution print specifications.

This proactive approach prevents unexpected delays during manufacturing and guarantees that your book receives the polished, professional presentation it deserves.

Process & pricing

Before Joey begins the design process, you will first discuss your specific goals and requirements.

You provide the text, images, and any brand identity files. Joey will then contact you to review the scope of the project in detail. Based on this discussion, you will receive an estimate of the required working hours.

This estimate includes one or two revision rounds to fine-tune your design. The final invoice is calculated strictly based on the actual hours worked.

To keep costs as low as possible, we recommend providing text files and images that are complete, finalized, and thoroughly proofread. The fewer corrections required during the design phase, the more efficiently Joey can work.

In many cases, the final print files for a standard book are completed within one to two business days. For extensive publications or complex projects featuring numerous photographs, tables, or intricate formatting, the process may naturally require a little additional time.

Joey’s hourly rate is €80 per hour.

You retain full ownership of your design

When you hire Joey to design your publication, all design files remain entirely your property.

Upon completion of the project, we will provide you with both the open editable InDesign files and the print-ready PDF files upon request. You remain completely free to reuse these assets in the future or have them modified by another partner.

We believe it is fundamental that you retain complete ownership of the artwork, layout, and print files for your book.

Ready to bring your book to life?

Whether you already possess a clear vision or are looking for expert creative direction, Joey is eager to assist you. Together, we will ensure that your book is not only compelling in content, but also carries a professional design that perfectly suits your story.

  • Do you work on a fixed-price basis or an hourly rate?
