File Preparation
For foil stamping, we require a separate vector file containing only the foil elements alongside your standard print-ready file.
Key Requirements:
- Supply the foil elements as a separate file matching the dimensions of the layout template.
- Use 100% of a single spot color (e.g., 100% Black or 100% Magenta).
- Do not use gradients, halftones, or transparencies.
- Convert all text to outlines/vector paths.
- Mind the minimum line thickness and spacing requirements.
Minimum Line Thickness
The minimum line thickness depends on the material chosen:
- Paper or laminated covers: Minimum line thickness of 0.2 mm
- Linen, cloth, or textured materials: Minimum line thickness of 0.4 mm
Due to the texture of cloth or linen, fine details may be lost during production. We recommend keeping designs for textured covers slightly bolder than those intended for smooth paper.
Unsure if your artwork is suitable for foil stamping? We are happy to check your files before going into production.
